Something for me? Aww, thanks.

New scarf

Made a little something for myself as well. I lost the scarf I bought in Italy on the honeymoon, so I made myself a new one. This year I have a gray coat and a sneaking suspicion that I would soon own a DrikaB bag this Christmas in yellow and gray. I already had some super soft, black & white houndstooth fabric on hand, so I bought some fabric to match with a hint of yellow.

At first, I just sewed the two pieces together without any other padding, but after the crazy winds began to blow, I added in a layer of thermolam batting. Now it's a soft, cozy, wall of fabric to protect me from these ridiculous winds.

New Bag

Oh, and I was right. Here is the great bag I got for Christmas. I love it!

See how happy I am now?

New To Do

Lazy cat being flat

Wow! Look at that amazingly lazy cat. I have been super busy these days, especially compared to him. Sometimes, it's just not fair to see him so relaxed when I feel so stressed out.

I'm have finished my bulk order of coffee sleeves (Phew!), but all this time I have been making a mental list of the seemingly endless tasks/items to make before christmas. It doesn't look like much, but it feels like a huge undertaking. The coffee sleeves alone will take forever, just because I feel like I need to make a million. I've been so stressed out about it, that I took a whole  week of vacation, so I could get a good head start. The boyfriend cautions that I MUST do some fun stuff for myself during that time, though, like a museum or movie, etc. We'll see...

1. Austen's Quilt - It's almost done. Just need to add the binding.

2. Susan's christmas orders - 2 Teacher's Tote Bags and 1 insulated lunch bag. (I should make myself one of those, too)

3. A million coffee sleeves  - For the craft fair at the Brooklyn Lyceum.

4. Rose's christmas orders - Well, that's a surprise. Sorry!

5. A scarf for myself - It's cold as shit now and I sold my own scarf last winter to the boyfriend's sister in-law.

6. RB's scarf - black polka dots with a black flannel backing. Should be cute.

7. Yellow checkered scarf - That needs to be made. Then again, it is a fall or spring scarf. It could wait considering number 5 on the list.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Here is a look at the finished scarf. One of my mom's favorite colors is purple, so I used some of the purple silk kimono pieces along with the gray wool from men's suits. It's a very simple pattern, but I think it turned out really well.

It was a little difficult to get a good picture, so here are a few.

Another little present

Here's a sneak peek at a present I'm making. I'm sure that person doesn't read this, so it's probably fine.

purple scarf pieces 2

I'm making a scarf using old wool suits and silk kimono pieces, like the others I've made. I've pared down the variety of colors and patterns of the silk and wool pieces. And I've made the design more uniform.

I just love the way these gray and purple colors are coming together. It makes me want to go out and buy a gray coat so I can make one for myself.

Oh! And I have yet to hang up my bulletin board. It's quite useful for this kind of project as it's easily moved around the room.

Two down. A million to go.

Somehow I actually got the scarf made for K. I think it's actually my favorite so far!

We'll see if she still wants it. I did take longer than expected to make due to moving. And now it's 56 degrees today. Hopefully she'll still want to buy it, but if not I can always put it up on Etsy or wear it myself.

I also managed to get two more coffee sleeves made.
