Mom's Fabric Stash
Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 2:57PM This past weekend, I went to visit my mom. She had recently acquired lots and lots of fabric from a friend, so she told me that I could do some free fabric shopping from her stash. I had no idea, though, that I would be leaving with a giant canvas bag full of material. I thought "lots and lots" was an exaggeration. No. It was not.
Here are the best of the best from what I brought home. Look how neatly stacked and folded they are! It was a shame to have to wash them and ruin the organizational beauty of it all.
I already have a plan for these Gingham prints. Love them so much!
And I'm a huge fan of polka dots and stripes, so these were great to beef up my collection.
It's a little hard to tell, but those owl fabrics are navy blue and purple. I like them a lot.
Now, the question remains: Where the hell am I going to put these? Not that would stop me from taking them, of course. It's just that I just tidied the fabric shelves up. See?

Fabric Fabric Bulletin Board
Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 12:53PM It's amazing how an impending visit from your future in-laws can spark some organization. Finally! They will be staying in our second bedroom (the sewing room), so I have to clean up my mess of fabric and odds and ends lying around the room and covering the the futon completely.
My bulletin board is one of the things has been sitting on the ground since I moved in over a year ago, just waiting to be hung up. (See it up there in the corner?) It has a metal frame, though, so I wasn't exactly sure of an easy way to hang it. Then I went to my friend's house who bought two super cute fabric bulletin boards from Pulp Products and I considered just throwing mine out for a new one that would be more intersting and wouldn't be a hassle to hang. But suddenly, while organizing some fabric, I got inspired.
I found this upholstery fabric that I bought a long time ago and thought it would make a perfect background for a bulletin board - something intersting to look at, but wouldn't take away from whatever I tacked on it. The colors were also pretty nice against the green walls, too.
It was amazingly easy to do. I unscrewd the metal frame; laid out the fabric on the floor; sprayed the board with basting adhesive; smoothed the fabric against the board and then used an ordinary stapler to bring the fabric edges around. Easy.
I gave in and used double sided tape to hang it up because that's E's answer to hanging up anything and I could live with it in this instance. Then I used push pins to hang up the rulers. It's so nice to get all of this stuff up and off the floor. And the wall seems much more cozy as well since it's not a giant empty space.

Life I'm in love.
Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 6:04PM I love this fabric so much!! It gives me elated butterfly feelings akin to looking at great art. I didn't expect fabric would do this to me.
I want to make this fabric into something that I can use every day, so a quilt would probably be best. That way I can wrap myself in it and stare at it lovingly for years. But I'm nervous. I want it to be GOOD. That's why I haven't done anything with it yet. I don't want to rush into something that might not work out. It's stupid to let it just sit on a shelf not enjoying it. I've got to find the perfect pattern. Any ideas?

Fabric Coffee, ice cream, and fabric
Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:13PM It's a celebration here today. New fabrics have arrived in the mail. This calls for coffee and ice cream. (Please not that there is no way I could take this picture without sampling the ice cream first. Impossible.)
It all started with this pretty yellow floral by Marcus Brothers' "Come Quilt with Me". I noticed it and I needed to buy it immediately. I've had a thing for yellow these days.
But, of course, as I scanned the Etsy shop of Mineymo, I realized I needed more, more, more! These things spiral out of control sometimes.

NOW. Here is my dilemma, and I hope someone can help me decide. I originally bought these to use for spring coffee sleeves in my Etsy shop. Should I stick to the original plan or go ahead and use them now? I mean, new fabric just sitting there is so hard to resist. I need some opinions please!
