Crafternoon
Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 12:00PM This past weekend I went to a Crafternoon at the New York Public Library. It was hosted by my friend, Maura Madden, and author of Crafternoon: A Guide to Getting Artsy and Crafty with Your Friends All Year Long. This crafternoon featured two guest speakers: Hannah Rogge, author of Hardwear and Jessica Vitkeus, author of AlternaCrafts. Each Author spoke for a bit about some of the crafts in their books and then we all proceeded to do a little crafting ourselves.
I decided to make one of the paper punch cards from Jessica's book since I happened to need a very special birthday card. It was really easy and felt nice to make a card instead of trying to find one this year. This is really only the second time in my life that I have tried to embroider anything. I feel inspired to do more.

And then I actually won this book in the raffle! I never win stuff.
There are quite a few cute projects in this book. The rug made out of t-shirts stands out, but I think I might make myself a cozy hat from an old sweater. What a great idea.
If you guys are in the New York area and are interested in attending the next Crafternoon, then please check out the schedule here. There are a lot of amazing speakers. I was reluctant to share them with you for purely selfish reasons, but I had a change of heart, so please take a look. Maybe I'll see you there.
Craternoon,
birthday card in
Life
