Decorating
Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 7:55PM I mentioned briefly before that the in-laws would be staying with us before the wedding, so we decided to finally decorate and spruce up the apartment before they came to visit.
I started by making some curtains for the living room. The walls are all white, so this was be an easy way to bring in some color without having to paint. The fabric I found at Mood was perfect - vibrant and sheer enough to still let light in when we close them.
Then we hung a bunch of paintings and artwork that had been sitting around forever.
We also bought lamps. My god. How could I live so long without lamps?
As I was going through everything, I found an old calendar that a friend had given me. I saved it because the bunnies were so cute and it has a different song lyric on each page. This one is from Jefferson Airplane and says, "Consider how small you are compared to your scream."
I had five glass frames from my old apartment, so I cut out the cutest bunnies and hung them up in the sewing/guest room. It goes well on that wall since it's long and the futon is below it.
It's amazing how much of a difference some curtains, artwork, and lamps can make. It finally feels like a home.
